Lunchbox Doctor started out when Jenny’s daughter first went to school in 2009. As a newly qualified nutritionist she realised quickly that typical lunchboxes were far below the required nutritional standards for health, let alone optimal health. What started as a healthy eating blog with lunchbox recipes and tips, soon turned into several cookbooks full of recipes under the name Jenny Tschiesche. Jenny's passion for nutrition education has also seen her deliver workshops all over the world for brands both big and small. Her skillset is being able to make practical sense of nutrition theory under the brand name Jenny Tschiesche.
One of the reasons she got into nutrition originally is because of sport. She played a lot of hockey in her youth and competed at county, regional and national level. She was given diet advice throughout her hockey career. However, the advice given was so far removed from the advice she gives today. It was heavily focused on carbohydrate loading and didn’t reveal the power of protein as well as the benefits of micronutrients in improving performance and aiding recovery.
What we eat determines how strong we feel, how much energy we have, how healthy we are and ultimately how we perform at work, at school or in our chosen sport; it is as simple as that. In order to be at our best, we need to think about our food and drink choices carefully.
In today’s society we are surrounded by fast and processed food options. Many of these are cheaper options than real food and meals.
We have lost our intuition where eating is concerned so we tend to follow diets and influencers to find our way. The way others eat may not fit our own needs and without understanding how to apply the science to our own needs we never truly understand what is best for our health.
Many underestimate the value of optimal nutrition to health beyond body image. Whilst choosing to eat less or changing the macronutrient and micronutrient ratios might improve the way you look getting nutrition right fo you can mean improved energy, performance, gut health, sleep as well as less stress, anxiety and depression.
The workshops delivered by Jenny are practical and interactive, enabling attendees to discover ways in which they can make changes to their own personal nutrition immediately. Her style is inclusive. She is clear and concise as she simplifies nutrition concepts so that they apply to real lives. Jenny has a huge amount of experience and knowledge relating to the practicalities of cooking meals with a range of budgets, eating preferences e.g. plant-based, vegetarian, paleo, purchasing healthier meals, snacks and ingredients from a variety of shops, farms and food outlets.
